BMES/SWE Woodstock's Fundraiser 
- Date: October 27th @ Woodstock's on Front St. 
- Time: 5pm
- Come on down and enjoy some pizza to help support SWE and BMES 

SACANAS National Conference "Empowering Innovation and Synergy Through Diversity"
- Saturday, October 29th 8:30am-11am @ San Jose Convention Center
- Ph.D/graduate/undergraduate students present research projects
- Get a chance to learn about cutting edge scientific research and personal achievements of SACANAS members

- Everyone is welcome! 

ACM/SWE Movie Night 
- Date/Location: TBD, but will be somewhere around the 1st week of November at Baskin
- SWE and ACM members get together to watch a movie, kick back, and eat! 
- Top 4 movies list for ACM to choose from:

   2.) Rise of the Planet Apes
   3.) Wall-E
   4.) Tron Legacy

EA Games  UCSC Event
- Date/ Location: Tuesday, November 1st from 10-4pm @ E2 Rm 506. Special Talk from 1-3pm 
- 2 UCSC alumni gamers will talk about the technology for EA games and give you insight on the UCSC computer science department/ job searching
- Food will be provided
- Anyone interested is welcome

Exploratorium After Dark WiSE Event in San Francisco
- Date/ Location: Thursday, November 3rd from 6pm-Midnight @ SF Exploratorium
- Fun and interesting exhibits indoors and outdoors about various topics of science: http://www.exploratorium.edu/afterdark/event-fear/
- Admission ONLY $10 includes entrance fee and transportation (special shuttles between UCSC and SF)
- You must reserve online, hurry because spots fill up fast! 

RIM Company (Research in Motion) SWE Lab Tour
- Date: TBD Mid-November
- We get to tour the company that takes part in the manufacturing of Blackberry phones 
- Everyone is welcome to join, sign ups will be soon

Still in Need of New T-shirt Designs and Slogans
- We plan on designing a shirt that is more bioengineering oriented
- Here are a few examples of the slogans that we liked:
  > My clone does my homework 
  > Measurably perfect the first approximation
  > Private members and public objects
  > Have a slug jumping a double helix rope
- We need more ideas! So if you have a design or slogan in mind for the shirts, please feel free to show us at meeting or email sross@ucsc.edu or upload the 
  design on the SWE Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/groups/2201021904/
- We will vote as group on the slogan and the design :)

Planning Ahead:

National SWE Conference in Hawaii (Feb. 29- Mar.3 2012)
- Open to all members
- This is will be a great opportunity to network with SWE members from other chapters around the nation
- We hope that we can send 5 SWE members to Hawaii, so if you have some cool ideas for fundraising let us know!

Mr.Engineering Pageant 2012
- We need to start finding company sponsors and future contestants
- If you know of a company who is willing to donate, we would greatly appreciate it!

Outreach Events at Local High Schools
- Inspire high school students to pursue a career in engineering
